일반 가정에서 호흡기 알레르기 질환을 차단하기 위한 공기 정화

As a conventionally trained doctor (was a GP) and a sufferer from airborne mould allergy; satisfactory air purification systems are close to my heart (or lungs…) Over the years I have tried several with varying degrees of success. At last we now have an effective air purification system in the Biozone range of air purifiers for domestic premises.
의학적으로 훈련된 의사로서(일반 전문의) 그리고 공기로 운반되는 곰팡이에 의한 알레르기 피해자 로서, 내 마음에(또는 호흡기에...) 만족스러운 공기정화 시스템은 매우 친숙한 것들이다.
나는 수년간 걸쳐 성공적으로 개선시키기 위해 몇몇 사람들을 치료하고 있었다. 마침내 우리는 바이오존 가정용 공기정화기 라는 효과적인 공기 정화시스템을 갖게 되었다.

I have a fantasy that, one day we, will have a machine that will allow us to see what air looks like. The nearest we have is the horror shown up by a sunbeam at a certain angle, when all the dust is exposed to view. Dust is a mixture containing moulds, pollens and general debris. To continue my fantasy a sample of outdoor air would contain layers of some of the following substances, the heavier ones nearer the ground: a mist of moulds and dusts, pollens, some chemical pollutants, water vapour, and particles of all kinds.
우리들에게 언젠가는 공기가 어떻게 생겼는지 관찰할 수 있는 기계 장치가 나오지 않을까 상상해본다.
우리 주변 가까이에서 발견할 수 있는 일정 각도의 햇빛에 반사되어 노출되는 공기 중 먼지들을 바라 보고 있노라면 정말 소름이 끼친다.
먼지는 곰팡이와 꽃가루 그리고 일반적인 부스러기들로 이루어져 있는 혼합물이다.
계속 생각해보면, 바깥 야외 공기 샘플에는 지면에 가까워질수록 다음과 같은 물질들이 짙어질 것이다.
옅은 안개와 같은 곰팡이와 흙먼지 혼합물, 꽃가루, 일부 화학적 오염물질, 수증기와 수많은 종류의 미세한 입자들이다.

Indoor air would contain many of the outdoor pollutants and mould, but in a lesser concentration, together with the chemicals off-gassed by new carpets and furnishings, a spectrum of indoor moulds, dust, cigarette residue and much else.
실내 공기에는 수없이 많은 외기 오염물질들과 곰팡이들이 포함되어 있으며, 비록 농도는 낮을지라도, 새 카펫과 가구 등으로부터 방출되는 화학 가스체, 실내에 기생하는 각양 각색의 곰팡이, 더러운 먼지, 흡연으로 인한 잔류물 그리고 생각보다 훨씬 많은 오염물질들이 있을 것이다.

My fantasy includes a way of showing all these substances in a full colour representation of an air sample, it would be alarming, but could provide the impetus for change. My particular concern is with the daily fluctuations of mould count in air, as so many of us are allergic to inhaled moulds, the symptoms of which include mood swings, anxiety, morning depression, episodes of terror (especially in the night)
chronic urinary problems, joint pains and arthritis, bouts of energy loss and “flat batteries”, bowel symptoms, bloating (anything associated with Candida and IBS) and more.
나의 상상은 공기 샘플을 풍부한 색상으로 표현하여 이런 오염물질 전체를 보여주는 방법을 포함한다.
이것은 정말 놀라운 일이겠지만, 한편으로 생각해보면 변화시키기 위해 자극을 줄 수 있는 측면도 있다.
나의 또 다른 특별한 관심 내용은 공기 중에서 매일같이 변화하는 곰팡이 개체 수이다.
왜냐하면, 수많은 사람들은 곰팡이를 호흡함으로써 알레르기 반응을 일으키게 되며, 기분의 동요, 불안 감, 우울증, 만성적 불안 공포(특히 심야 시간 에…), 관절통과 관절염, 탈진에 의한 발작, 소화계 질환, 부종(칸디다 균과 IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome)과 관련된 원인으로 발생하는 증상)등의 증상을 나타 내기 때문이다.

These symptoms vary in intensity being much worse in some houses and in damp weather. Asthma and Hay Fever may also occur from mould allergy and the symptoms are not seasonal. There are dietary approaches to tackle some of this, but these are only partially successful if we continue to breathe mouldy or chemically contaminated air. (We have a damp climate, airborne moulds are due to this rather than poor domestic hygiene.)
이런 증상들은 강도에는 차이가 있으나 특정 가정과 습도가 높은 기후에서 더욱 더 심하다.
천식과 건초열은 곰팡이 알레르기로 발생할 수 있으나 그런 증상들이 단지 계절적 변화 때문에 일어 나지는 않는다.
이러한 문제를 다루는 데는 있어 식이요법을 통한 문제 해결이 있기는 하지만 이러한 방법은 곰팡이가 존재하거나 화학적으로 오염된 공기를 호흡하는 한 부분적으로 성공할 수 밖에 없다. (다소 부족한 위생 상태보다도 오히려 습도가 높은 기후와 공기 중에 날아다니는 곰팡이가 더 문제이다.)
My previous efforts to clean up the air have included filters, (which clog up easily, the moulds which are very small pass through and dirty filters redistribute the dust and mould,) dehumidifiers (expensive to run,) which help by drying the air (moulds like it damp), and ionisers which did not help me. Previous purification systems involved a fan and coronal discharge technology which worked well temporarily, but the glass plates were fragile and needed frequent cleaning for it to work.
공기를 깨끗하게 하려는 나의 기존의 노력들은 기계식 필터로 먼지를 거르는 방식(곰팡이는 무척 작기 때문에 필터를 통과하며, 때로는 먼지로 더러워진 필터가 오히려 곰팡이를 더욱 증식시킴)을 사용하거나 공기를 건조시키는 역할(곰팡이는 다습한 곳을 좋아함)을 하는 제습기(전기료가 많이듬)와 내게 별 도움을 주지 못했던 음이온식 공기청정기까지 포함하고 있었다.
기존의 청정 시스템들은 홴(Fan)을 필연적으로 포함하는 필터 방식과 코로나 방전(Coronal Discharge) 기술을 이용함으로써 일시적으로 정화할 수는 있지만, 방전을 일으키는 부품이 유리판이라 깨지기 쉽고, 제대로 청정하게 하기 위해서 수시로 청소해주어야 한다.

Now the technology has advanced and Biozone are producing machines which clean the air using an Ultra Violet Light bulb, which is effective. (Occasional cleaning of the fan needed inevitably, and the bulbs last 1 year.)
지금은 정화 기술이 과학적으로 상당히 진보되었고, 바이오존은 자외선램프를 이용하여 효과적으로 공기를 정화하는 장치이다(가끔씩 홴 청소는 불가피하며, 자외선 램프 수명은 약 1년 정도이다).

Since trying out the Biozone 500 my allergy symptoms have been far fewer and briefer and in particular, my energy has been very much increased, a marked improvement. (Subjective and “anecdotal” but then the first few cases of the plague were anecdotal… everything starts “anecdotal.”)
바이오존 가정용-500이라는 모델을 사용한 이래, 나의 알레르기 증상은 대폭 감소되었으며, 특히 나의 신진대사 에너지가 크게 증가하는 등 두드러진 개선이 있었다.

The Biozone TravelAire is a small portable version suitable for a hotel room, (hotels often have old water damage, and high bedroom mould counts) which I have found most helpful for travelling.
바이오존 여행용 공기정화기는 호텔에 투숙할 경우, 사용에 적합하도록 개발된 작은 휴대 제품도 있어 여행시 매우 유용하다는 것을 알았다.

People with MCS have also found these purifiers useful, as they destroy many of the offending chemicals.
화학물질 과민증(MCS) 환자들 또한 그들에게 불쾌함을 안겨주는 수많은 화학물질들을 파괴시키는데 바이오존 공기정화 장치가 매우 유용하다는 것을 깨달았다.

Mechanism: this involves the production of a small amount of Ozone (Oxygen with a third O atom tacked on, which is unstable and soon reverts to oxygen as O2, the level is kept well within safe guidelines.) Ozone has been referred to as “activated oxygen” and has been used extensively medicinally in Europe for many years for its sterilising qualities in wound healing and general sterilisation, including water (swimming pools etc.) and much else.

오존은 활성 산소로 알려져 있고, 상처 치료를 위한 살균 특성이 있어 오랫동안 유럽에서는 의학적인 용도로 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며, 일반적인 살균 소독용과 물 소독용(수영장과 같은)과 같이 매우 다양한 용도로 이용되고 있다.

[Leave out his para if conflicts with your needs…] Minor research using post-it notes reveals that ozone is being criticised on the internet mainly by a “US Government funded” website and the alarmist phraseology has then been repeated elsewhere.
A Google search finds over 6 million sites under “Medical Uses of Ozone” and just over one million under the heading “dangers of Ozone” a quick trawl through these latter reveals that some refer to people who are already badly lung damaged also to caged birds left in rooms with Ozone generators running and other not relevant to “damage”.
[서로가 바라는 욕구에 상반된 의견 때문에 충돌하거나 모순되는 것은 생략하고…] 공식적인 목적으로 활용 하는 소수의 연구 발표에서, 오존이 주로 미국 정부의 자금으로 운영되는 웹-사이트와 같은 인터넷 상에서 비판되고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌고, 세상을 소란케 하려고 미사여구를 쓰는 사람들에 의해 여러 곳으로 퍼져 나간다.
Google에서 “오존의 의학적 용도”로 검색 해보면 6백만개 이상의 사이트가 나오지만, 겨우1 백만개 이상의 자료가 “오존의 위험성” 이란 제목으로 사람들을 혼란스럽게 하게 있다.
몇몇 환자들을 진료하면서, 환자들이 이미 나빠진 호흡기 질환을 앓고 있고, 더불어 룸 안에 오존 발생기를 가동하고 있으며, 게다가 새가 마치 새장 우리 속에 감금되는 것처럼 만들어도 또 다른 피해들 과 관련 지을 수 없었다.

Having looked at the evidence I do not think it is harmful in correct concentrations, and a large number of sick people have benefited from its use over the years.
This low ozone concentration is responsible for the cleansing effect of these purification systems.
이런 증거에서 보듯이, 나는 낮은 오존 농도는 전혀 위험하지 않다고 생각하며, 수년간 바이오존을 사용해온 수많은 환자들에게 큰 도움이 되었다.
이렇게 낮은 오존 농도에서 일어나는 정화 효과는 바이오존 정화시스템에 대한 신뢰이다.
